Plum Blossom Porcelain Gaiwan (~130 ml)

This porcelain gaiwan is hand-painted with plum blossoms and branches across the lid, bowl and saucer. Plum blossoms are among the first flowers of late winter, and they're a favorite subject in Chinese painting.

A gaiwan is a lidded bowl on a saucer, used for brewing loose leaf tea gong fu style: a generous amount of leaf, short steeps and many infusions. The lid holds back the leaves as you pour. Because the porcelain is glazed, it won't hold on to aromas from one session to the next, so it's an easy choice for moving between oolong, black tea, green tea and puerh.

This gaiwan holds approximately 130 ml filled to just under the lid, a good size for one or two people sharing a tea session.

Dimensions: 9.5 cm (d) x 8.3 cm (h)

Made in China.

Each piece is hand-painted and may vary slightly in appearance from the photo. Product color may also vary slightly due to photographic lighting or monitor settings.
