Red Sansui Porcelain Gaiwan (~145 ml)

This porcelain gaiwan is decorated with a sansui landscape, the "mountains and water" scenery found throughout Chinese painting, wrapping around the bowl, lid and saucer.

A gaiwan is a lidded bowl on a saucer, used for brewing loose leaf tea gong fu style: a generous amount of leaf, short steeps and many infusions. The lid holds back the leaves as you pour. Because the porcelain is glazed, it won't hold on to aromas from one session to the next, so it's an easy choice for moving between oolong, black tea, green tea and puerh.

This gaiwan holds approximately 145 ml filled to just under the lid, a good size for one or two people sharing a tea session.

Dimensions:
Bowl: 9.5 cm (d) x 6.4 cm (h)
Saucer: 12 cm (d)

Made in China.
