2026 Sweet Potato Phoenix Oolong (Fanshu Xiang Dancong)
Fanshu Xiang ("Sweet Potato Fragrance") is a dancong oolong from Wudong Mountain in the Phoenix Mountains of Guangdong Province. It's named for the natural fragrance of this particular variety of tea bush. In the cup it's super sweet upfront with a billowy mouthfeel, not overly floral, and very little to no astringency. The finish is mellow and engaging. Minerality comes in with later steeps, along with something closer to a roasted, sappy sweet potato. Really a lovely tea. Highly recommended and unlike most phoenix oolongs, this one is reasonably priced.
Produced without chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides. Mid-April 2026 harvest.
